Health and Wellness Expo for SAY San Diego

When:  February 25, 2011
Where:  2130 Pan American Plaza (Balboa Park Recital Hall)

safe_The SAFE 511 Team attended the Health and Lifestyle Expo for SAY San Diego to provide information on services to mostly middle-class working people. The demonstration and workshops featured alternative options to healthy lifestyles, food options, and other overall benefits.  The educational multi-media relations gave fun and entertaining insight with grab-bag parting gifts for the attendees.

Overall the event was very informative and motivational. The opening speaker shared insight on the effects of stress, how it is triggered, and alternative lifestyle choices that promote healthy living and wellness. Approximately 100-125 people, mostly women, were in attendance and about 20 booths were set up (ranging from lasik eye surgery, personal fitness, to financial advising.

The 511 received great feedback from previous users with comments such as:
  • Better than AAA
  • Convenient and free!
  • Really easy to remember
  • A great help when in need
The booth was a great success and we received so much positive feedback for the public service. Many of the women asked for multiple copies of info flyers to give to their children and commented that they were grateful that 511 provided a useful service to the county of San Diego. Also who doesn’t love air refreshers!  As representatives, we also felt a great fulfillment engaging with the community members and collaborative efforts with the Spice of Life wellness programs.

-when will it be available in other counties?

-does it cost money for the gas if our car is on empty?

  • Keep track of your gas fill-ups and mileage. A pad and pencil is all it takes. Notice that your gas mileage worsens? Tune-up time!
  • We have our last car hidden! Good luck! Hint: FSP http://t.co/yDfaZiFb #giveaways
  • See a tanker at your gas station? Come back another time because the turbulence caused by the underground filling can stir up sediment.
  • What are your new year's resolutions? What about: make sure to get an oil change in a timely manner. #newyearsresolutions
